If you were stranded on an island what single plant would you have and why? I was asked that question when I was a child and my answer was - coconut! I could eat it, make a home for myself, make milk, start a fire, make jerky, make curry, use it for my hair, for soap, as a shampoo, and I could even shine my floors with the husks. My mother battled breast cancer, and the odd thing is that my family does not have any history of breast cancer or any cancer. After researching about chemicals in everyday products, I've decided to change what we use at home to be chemical free, good for the earth, and no animal products or testing.

Have you ever wondered what your make-up brush was made of? Most of us don't really bother to see what kind of brush we use. Neither did I, until I read an article from Take Part, which was a PETA article, "Is there a Squirrel in our Make-Up Bag". I know as an art teacher that many of the bristles used for paint brushes are from animal hair, so that would be easily found in our make-up brushes.
